Arizona scares the shit out of me

Can We Talk about How Arizona Scares the Shit Out of Me?

I currently live between two mountain ranges. The sunrises and sunsets are the most beautiful I have seen. The night sky is something out of textbooks, as I look at the big and little dipper every night. There is no time change, so no wondering about when it happens as it never does and as a result it doesn't get dark early here. Right now in "winter" it is 65 degrees and it gets dark at 6pm. It is a beautiful place to live and I think I needed to be here to reconnect with nature and myself. I know for the following reasons Arizona could never be my forever home, as it makes no sense.

No seriously this damn state has some of the craziest things I have ever seen. These lovely trees behind me are covered in thorns, long spiky thorns. You can't pet or touch any plant without stabbing yourself. If you thought cactuses were bad (they are) mesquite trees are worse. There was one right by the car park and I was moving branches to get into the car, unknowingly stabbing myself every morning. My hands were covered in blisters.

ALLERGIES! Can we talk about allergies? Since its warm as heck here and nothing dies, I sneeze all the damn time. I mean all the time. Zyrtec is talking all my hard earned money.

Can we talk about the wildlife? Going for a walk is a real life discovery channel adventure. There are Scorpions, they glow under black light and mostly come out and night and wait for you to step on them. So sadistic. There are Wild Pigs aka Javalinas and they are viscious. They will eat plants or animals that are out at night. A pack of them stole a bag of birdseed from the porch and dared us to get it back. The  Cougars and Coyotes wait for a rogue pet to be left out because, dinner.  The Road Runners and giant Jack Rabbits, don't cause much harm its just that they attack the larger animals to your yard that are trying to eat them. Most days, I am just trying not to get eaten.

Another thing I see in the wild... the Trump flags. Everytime I go for a walk I see Trump flags flying high in the sky. The Latinos for Trump signs are everywhere and days before the election, I saw a MAGA hat everytime I left the house. Being one of only a few black people in my town I get lots of stares and occasionally reaching hands. The racism is disheartening. I just want to exist, freely...

Lastly, the heat. Whomever said dry heat wasn't that bad lied! Its like sitting in an oven!  It's hot by 8am, so if you want to go for a walk or get some exercise it better be before 8am. Everything melts... everything! Leave your glasses in the car and come back and find parts of your lenses have melted. Groceries wilt and spoil before you can get them home so you have to carry a cooler. You get sunburn/heat stroke after 5 minutes outside at the hottest parts of the day.

Arizona is the Australia of the US. It's a great place to come in the winter months but to live? It's not for me, but I am glad I tried something new. I am already looking for new residences.

Don't let the bougie fool you, I said I was from Woodlawn : 36 questions about me

I haven't felt like myself in a long time and for the first time in years, I feel renewed and awake and happy. I thought I would take advantage of the lift out of the fog of depression and reintroduce myself. 1.Where did I grow up? Chicago, Woodlawn to be exact. My Instagram handle is Kurlykrysbchi... I will always be part of the Chi. 2. What's the most Midwest thing about me? Hmmm. The fact that I can pronounce Illinois correctly? I add an S on the end of proper store names: Jewels, Walgreens? My love of Portillos? The way I turn up my nose at everyone else's downtown? I say pop instead of soda? I say gym shoes, instead of sneakers? You choose. 3. Where do I currently live? Rural Arizona... send prayers! I'm afraid of everything and the thorns have destroyed 3 pairs of Adidas gym shoes. 4. Best friend? I have a few and they will always be my friends. I have in innate ability to always make an amazing friend. If only I had that same discernment when it came to dating.  ...

I Have Grown Tired of Sharing my Messy Diatribes as I Felt at Some Point I Felt the Energy Changed from Laughing with Me to Laughing at Me.  I am not someone who particularly cares what people think, or so I thought. What you think about me is actually none of my business. I do however use what people say to me to know if I like how I presenting myself.  Is this how I want people to talk about me when they are not in my presense? Is this how I want to be portrayed? Is what I am putting out is reflecting back to me in the way I intend? The answers were honestly no. People have stated on more than one occasion "I get sad when you are in a healthy relationship, like what am I going to read. and I miss you being messy and just ruthless."  My response is usually so don't want to see me happy? And they always respond, "No, No! You are entitled to your happy, I just enjoy you most when you are unhappy." I had to sit with that for a while. Some people weren't rooti...
